We will continue our training sessions for those who need to get the most out of the new IEEE SCV TMC wesbite. We will get together before the main IEEE SCV TMC meeting, and go over the topics of interest, mainly focusing on questions from participants:

For a while the new (beta) website was hiding behind the wraps. It was accessible from an inconspicuous link on the front page of www.IEEE-SCV-TMC.org. After months of development, it finally got officially released on August 28, 2009, just in time for the new season.
The new website is built on Drupal, an open-source content management system. That choice allowed quick construction of all basic functionality, but required extensive programming of bits and pieces that were missing in core Drupal system and contributed modules. Read more...

This evenings meeting was on Preventing Failure in Health Care IT Projects, presented by Peter Hartzman, PhD. We had a good attendance with 28 attendees. Slides will be posted on the "Meetings" page on the TMC website.

3/14 - Experience update for 3/5/09 meeting:
The food purchases were close to the actual attendees (60 attendees , i.e. 62 sign-ups less 13 no-shows and 8 walk-ins - vs 62 sandwiches bought for 58 sign-ups a couple of days before). But the number of sandwiches eaten was considerably less (maybe because they were cut in half and many only wanted a half?); that is, there were 20 extra sandwiches left over. The February 5th The networking session topic was "How do you set and track your goals?", led by Larry Reeves. The rating from the post-meeting feedback sheets was 4.0 (1 - 5 rating scale) with standard deviation of 0.8. The written commets were:
